Cancer Research UK - Relay for Life -Solihull VOLUNTEER ROLE Tasks Involved: Cancer Research UK is seeking committed individuals to take on the exciting role of organising an annual Relay For Life event. Cancer Research UK Relay For Life is an overnight, community-led, non-athletic event. Teams set up camp and take it in turns to walk around a track for up to 24 hours. The teams raise money in the weeks leading up to the event and on the day create a party atmosphere for the whole community. Roles available include: Chair, Vice-Chair, Team Recruitment, Survivorship, Candle of Hope, Cancer Awareness, Logistics, Accounting & Registration
By being part of a Cancer Research UK Relay For Life Committee you will help to increase cancer awareness within your community and raise significant funds for Cancer Research UK's life-saving work to find new and better cures for this disease.
Skills needed:
Different skills are need for the different roles within the committee, so there really is a role to suit everyone! Ultimately, all committee members will need to be passionate about Relay for Life and able to plan & organise the various aspects of their role, with the support of the chair, other committee members and a Cancer Research UK staff partner.
Full training in how to organise Relay For Life will be provided. You will be supported by a member of Cancer Research UK staff who will keep in regular contact with you to ensure you have all the information you need and help you develop goals and seek resources for your event.

You'll play a major part in bringing your community together to be united against cancer and the money you'll raise will help Cancer Research UK cure cancer faster. The Relay itself is a lot of fun and a great way to meet and make friends with people in your community!
Times / Days:
All committee members will need to attend a training day (or weekend) on how to organise a Cancer Research UK Relay For Life. You will need to attend regular committee meetings throughout the year and possibly attend additional meetings or training sessions as appropriate. As the Relay approaches, you will need to devote more time to the event. The Committee Chair role is a minimum 2-year commitment. Where a Committee has been established this would normally be with one year as Committee Vice-Chair and one year as Chair.
